Whois client API update

Birmingham, UK - 21 Feb 2008 - Developers using the whois client API can now download an updated version which includes the ability to query IPv4 addresses.

The new code can be downloaded from the Developers Sandbox and will cause no compatibility problems with existing services which have been developed for previous versions of the API.

A live service can be found online at whois.omegasoft.co.uk.

When querying an IP address, the service will look at the American Registry for Internet Numbers at whois.arin.net to attempt to retrieve the record. If this fails, ARIN will inform the client which is the appropriate whois server to query.
